Jimi Hendrix Standard

Many people aspire to be as talented as Jimi Hendrix. Although his music career didn’t last long, his music had a lasting effect on the music industry.

Hendrix is voted by many as the greatest guitar player in history. It was a chance meeting that led Hendrix to his success. an associate of the Rolling Stones enjoyed Hendrix playing and recommended him to several record labels. He was rejected at first, but after performing in front of Eric Clapton (who was quoted to have said “my life was never the same again” following Hendrix’s performance), it was then he started to rise to fame.

His success had been european, but his band didn’t really have an impact on the States until Paul McCartney recommended Hendrix and his band for a concert. Hendrix then supported the monkees on tour, and this has been speculated as a tour to gain publicity for Hendrix.

You could reach Hendrix’s level of playing with D'Addario Guitar Strings.

Sid Vicious

Sid Vicious is known as the image of punk rock. Although The Sex PIstols had already released their trademark punk music and began touring, Vicious has been quoted as the image upon his arrival to the band.

He was one of the most influential bass players to hit the punk rock genre. The ironic part being, Sid couldn’t actually play Bass. Sid’s bandmates were known to unplug Sid’s bass during their gigs. Sid was completely aware of this and has been quoted as saying he didn’t know how to play.

Sid Vicious had his life cut short when he dies of a heroin overdose at the age of 21. It is believed that his mother gave him the heroin that would kill him. Whether or not she knew it was going to be used for an overdose is not clear.

The original Bass Guitarist of The Sex Pistols, Glen Matlock, was replaced by Sid after he left the band.

Maybe Sid may have had better luck playing if he had some D'Addario Bass Strings

Guitars are widely recognised across the globe as one of the most successful musical instruments of all time. the guitar can be used in all genres of music. Having an electric guitar or an acoustic guitar it is easy enough to fit into any and every genre.

Guitars can be played with a plectrum or with hands depending on the genre you are looking to play.

there are many famous brands of guitars, but what are guitars without their strings?

every guitar needs strings, but most of all players need the comfort of playing with reliable strings

bass bass and a bit more bass

Bass guitars are enjoyed by many musicans. very seldom will you come across a song that doesn’t have a bass line present. bass guitars are typically easier to play thant the guitar as you are only able to play one note at a time rather than chords on a guitar. this means that the beat is more pronounced almost like a drum.

in most instances the bass line is very similar to the beat of the drum as it gives it more sustainability.

people usually use their fingers when strumming the strings of a bass guitar, in a one two motion meaning one strum with your index finger the next with your middle finger the next with your index finger and so on. other people prefer to use a plectrum. Which one you prefer to use ultimately comes down to what style of music you prefer to play.

ukuleles

Many people play ukuleles for the comedy value. the tiny little guitar instruments make the players look almost gigantic when playing. But the instruments themselves have a substantial history and are surprisingly easy to play.

miniature instruments are usually introduced to children to encourage them to play however the ukulele is targeted towards adults as the rhythms and chords it can produce are significantly different to that of a normal guitar.

The ukulele may be small but it’s very powerful especially in country music.

This instrument is without a doubt a timeless classic and has no signs of dying out any time soon

Ernie Ball

Ernie Ball is known in the music industry as his creations were revolutionary. Ernie Ball started from the bottom and made his way up. he had a great idea about music being a musician himself, and he started a small business that later grew into an international business that would generate more than $40million USD in turnover a year.

Ernie Ball opened the first store The United States that sold guitars and only guitars. This was criticised highly by music moguls in the late 50s. They told him he should be more versatile and sell other instruments but Ball responded with “I just want to sell guitars”. Little did he know this would be his making.

Ball brought it to Fender’s attention that people were struggling with the 29 gauge third string and was ultimately ignored. This made him release his own set of strings that were lighter to play. These strings are used by many famous musicians today. Some famous names you may have heard of include Billy Joe Armstrong (Green Day), Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Brad Paisley, and Paul Gilbert.

The beauty of Ball’s success was that he didn’t come up with a revolutionary invention. he noticed that people were struggling and adapted a string that was already being used to suit players needs.

So next time you’re using some of Ernie Ball’s Strings, bare in mind that he was the one that made it possible to learn and practice on a lighter third string.

Popular bass lines to get you motivated.

Many people argue what the most famous bass line of all time is.

The answer quite simple is that there isn’t one. There are many that make “top ten bass line” blogs or charts, but ultimately the choice is yours.

One bass line many people agree on is by Queen - “another one bites the dust”. You’ll seldom meet anybody that hasn’t heard of the song. You’re even less likely to come across that doesn’t know the bass line. The brilliance of this bass line is it’s simplicity yet its catchiness.

A faster yet just as catchy Queen bass line is that of “under pressure” ft David Bowie.

If you need it for motivation or just to get the party started, another one bites the dust is a good song to chose from.

If you’re looking for something a little less rock and roll, Ben E King is another classic with another simple bass line yet really catchy. You’re bound to know what song it is, but just in case you don’t it’s “stand by me”. Ben E King is a timeless classic that has been brought forward to all generations.

If you’re looking for something a little more modern, and a little more complex, try exploring the Red Hot Chilli Peppers “give it away now” bass line.

If you’re an experienced bass player and you already know these tabs yet want to take yourself that extra mile and push your talents, there’s only one bass line for you. “Hysteria” by Muse.

Of course this music may not be to everyone’s taste, but they are indeed timeless classics in the world of bass.

Why not check out our Legacy Bass Strings and see if you’re able to master any of these bass lines.
